SCHOOL BUS PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS:

Please note the following suggestions to help ensure efficient and safe transportation to and from school daily on the bus:

  • Buses are identified by their route number – the white number with a black backdrop.  Example:  8048.

  • Please arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time for the bus to depart from your stop in the mornings so that you do not miss the bus.

  • If the entire bus is late to school, due to issues with the route that day, your child will not be counted tardy.

  • Buses should not drop students off at school prior to 7:20 AM (since the doors of the school open at 7:20).

  • At dismissal time, we have all students check in with a teacher (recorded on an iPad) before loading the bus to ensure accuracy of our attendance.

  • When being dropped off at your bus stop in the afternoon, students who are 2nd grade and below should have an older sibling/cousin to walk with or be met by an adult.  Students below second grade should not be allowed to walk from the bus stop to their home alone.  If an adult is not waiting for a child who is below second grade, the bus driver may choose not to drop off the child.  Please be at the stop before the bus should arrive to retrieve your primary student.

  • Buses should have students home by 3:45 in the afternoon.  If your child’s bus has not arrived by 3:45, please call the school at 469-593-2600 to ensure that the bus was not running late.

  • If the bus comes to your stop and your child is not on it, please call the school at 469-593-2600 immediately.  You may also reach the Dallas County Bus Dispatch at 469-593-5809 if you need to check the status of your child’s bus arrival.

STUDENT CONDUCT:

  • Follow the driver’s directions at all times

  • Board and leave the bus in an orderly manner at the designated bus stop nearest home

  • No fighting, threatening others, or cursing on the bus

  • Stay seated while the bus is moving

  • Keep books, band instrument cases, feet, and other objects out of the aisle

  • Do not deface the bus and/or its equipment; No food or drink should be opened on the bus

  • Use good manners and treat other people and their possessions with respect

  • Do not put head, hands, arms, or legs out of the window, hold any object out of the window, or throw objects within or out of the bus

  • Upon leaving the bus, wait for the driver’s signal before crossing in front of the bus.
